Vancouver, BC - A Kamloops grade 12 student has been awarded the TRIUMF High School Fellowship for science excellence. The annual fellowship includes an opportunity to take part in a six-week summer work term at the TRIUMF laboratory in Vancouver and a $3,000 research award.

"Congratulations to Jacob Cosman from Kamloops' South Kamloops Secondary who was chosen from a group of 113 top physics students from across British Columbia," said Cindy Lum, CEO (Pro Tem) and COO, BC Innovation Council.

"TRIUMF is very proud to sponsor the High School Fellowship program which identifies the potential star scientists of tomorrow. Congratulations to Jacob; welcome to our laboratory!" said Jean-Michel Poutissou, TRIUMF Science Director.

"The TRIUMF High School Fellowship will be a superb opportunity for me to experience real, groundbreaking physics," said Jacob. "I am dedicated to physics and passionate about learning about new scientific concepts."

The fellowship is administered by the BC Innovation Council and sponsored in part by MDS Nordion. To be eligible, students must be entering their first undergraduate year within the sciences at a recognized post-secondary institution.
